Exactly, this! I was trying to explain this to another user in a discussion on this page, who repeatedly called Mark O'Mara an asshole. He's just a guy doing his job.

I come from a family of lawyers. It's actually interesting how quickly my brother and I picked up on things like agitating the other person in an argument. Whenever we had an argument that our parents had to settle, we would both calmly explain why the other was in the wrong, never yelling or throwing tantrums, but…
I didn't call you stupid, and I wasn't talking down to you. I just don't understand why you would call someone an asshole for doing his job. And as for helping their case, they did help their case. The witness came off as hostile and self contradictory, which is exactly what they were hoping for. The prosecution…
To be even more fair, Scalia didn't drone on about how gross gay people were at all. He dissented because he thought the Supreme Court didn't have the authority to rule on the constitutionality of DOMA, because both the lower court and the court of appeals ruled in favor of the plaintiff, so the plaintiff lacked legal…
They. are. lawyers. I don't know how to say that any more clearly. It's their job to try to secure a jury that they think gives them the best chance to win. George Zimmerman might be an asshole, but his lawyers are just normal people doing their job to the best of their ability. And agitating a witness is a valid…
Unfortunately, that's just the name of the game in the legal system. Lawyers spend years learning how to cross examine well, and agitating the witness is a very effective tactic. People don't think things through as clearly when they're upset, so they might blurt things out, and testimony given with a hostile attitude…
Yeah, I feel really terrible for her. She went through such a traumatic life experience, and now it appears she had very little preparation for the witness stand. They should have had her preparing in internal mock trials for months. It really hurts her credibility as a witness.
They're assholes for doing their job? The defense struck all the African American jury candidates, and the prosecution struck all the white male candidates. That's why the remaining jury is nothing but white women. Neither legal counsel is made up assholes, they're just made up of lawyers who know how to do their job.
I also have a lot of disagreements with Justice Thomas, but this quote from your article is incredibly misleading and inaccurate: "Hey, are you a black guy who was convicted and put on death row because the prosecutor purposefully hid exonerating evidence from your lawyer? Go fuck yourself, says Thomas."
I still don't understand. If someone decides not to let white people eat at their restaurant or work at their company, that's not racism against white people? For the record, I've never seen either of those, and I'm sure they don't exist in our country, but it's absurd to dismiss that they could exist.
"If I have to be mean." That's the irreconcilable difference between us. I think if your mental well-being requires meanness, there's something wrong. I know I'm not going to convince you though, so it's pointless to go on arguing. And micro-violence (punching someone in the face), was what I initially reacted to…
You absolutely nailed it, Aubrey! /thread
Wait, why is racism against white people funny? I'm really confused here. I certainly don't believe that white people are discriminated against in some massive conspiracy, like a lot of conservatives seem to think, but it's certainly possible to be racist against white people. I don't even agree that Fisher was…
The fact that the world isn't filled with nice people is exactly the reason why you should go the extra mile to be nice. No one has even been a huge asshole, had someone react violently to them, and thought "Hey, I should totally change my ways and be nice!" But if they act like a huge asshole and you're nice to them…
You "do not expect much from a white gay man?" You're defending affirmative action, but you don't see how that comment is incredibly racist? Ok....
I don't understand reacting violently. If someone is racist, then don't be friends with them, by all means, but don't attack them. Everything you need to know about life you learned in kindergarten. Play nicely with others, and don't hit people when you get upset.
Hmm... I think Scarlett Johansson is absolutely gorgeous, but I'm actually kinda disappointed by that outfit. I'm not a fan of the leopard mesh at all. To each his own, I guess.
I've seen users like the OP, and no amount of reason will ever penetrate their infallible propaganda armor. Best thing to do is move on.
According to the news story, he was her neighbor. Not sure what the disagreement was about though.
I have a wide variety of pastel suits and dress shirts which will be perfect. My conservative Christian parents will be so happy. I think they're starting to give up on my liberal agnostic self ever settling down with someone.
