Yeah you’ll probably want to turn it on, but then pick the setting below it where it says my local network only. That way you only download whats needed once and share with your LAN, rather than disabling it completely.

When you get to the step where you would transfer the stuff from one SD to the next with the computer, just put the micro you are currently using in the New 3DS no problem.

The part with the SDcards is the transfer of data, the part before that is just a transfer of licenses.
This is the exact reason I bought a new microSD card and an adapter to standard SD cards when I filled my old one up. Save a couple of steps in the transfer.
