Sherlock, the UK series produced by Stephen Moffat. It's set in modern day England but stays faithful to the stories. It is the best scripted show I watched last year. Another good one is the UK version of Being Human, this one took a few episodes to grow on me but by the end of the 1st season I was hooked.
