Well, if it makes you feel better, “dice” comes from the Middle English word “dees” which was used as both singular and plural. So we’ve come full circle. In addition, “die” is take from the Old French plural of dice: de(i). So dice was originally both plural and singular and die was originally plural.
You seem to miss the point that we go behind that balance.
