Yeah, out of everyone in “the discourse” about games as an industry, the groups that get no sympathy from me are company execs and gamers. Phil Fish is absolutely an abrasive asshole who seems to take pride in it, but I didn’t blame him one bit when he just threw up his hands and went “Okay, fuck it, I’m done making

I kind of wonder what the deal is with it. Some games just seem to be the designated punching bag before they’re released. Now that FFXVI is out, I guess they needed a new one.

If every sci-fi property where people set foot on Mars within the next 25 years were an “Elon Musk-type vision of the future,” there would be a few hundred of them at least. Name-dropping Musk in an article gets clicks, it doesn’t mean the game was inspired by him.

I don’t think Starfield is, either.

It must have taken a while to come up with something that rhymed with “pounds.”

Sci-fi always has an abundance of optimism. Even the dystopian ones. We’ve got all the worst parts of a dystopia without any of the cool tech.

There are plenty of options for weighting the dice in your favor. Send someone who has the right skill to deal with the situation instead of just using your main character for everything. Use Inspiration, which is pretty common to get. Use Guidance or Bardic Inspiration or any number of other spells and abilities

I think Shadowheart’s dislike of the Gith is pretty clear, but what strikes me as weird is that these articles don’t ever seem to mention La’zael, who’s way more racist than Shadowheart and much less compassionate.

That’s being very generous.

I mostly go around with Shadowheart, Karlach, and Wyll, and they’re all very friendly and generally approve of heroic actions. Shadowheart only gets catty and racist around La’zael, since she doesn’t like Gith, and La’zael hates anybody who isn’t Gith, since the Githyanki have the whole “interplanar conquerors raised

You might actually get something interesting - but you probably won’t. People like to say art isn’t above criticism, but there are a hell of a lot of people here essentially saying the Witcher series shouldn’t be criticized, because all change is good.

Here’s hoping she unlearns her prejudice against Githyanki, because I’m already tired of that shit.

After Lycoris Recoil did the usual bait-and-switch, I was glad that Witch from Mercury actually followed through on the gayness, whatever the company might want to say about it.

I preferred them when they were stuck on an island eating cheese sandwiches.

I’d be fine with bringing it back as long as Musk would disappear instead.

On some level, video game sex will always look weird, I think. On the other hand, they’ve probably made some progress on that front since Dragon Age: Origins (where Morrigan put on more clothes for sex, and the facial expressions got really weird).

They’re not old enough to be iconic, but neither of them sucked, not by a long shot.

I liked this show once it got going. The humans were mostly stupid, but I appreciated that the aliens were really alien for once.

Because Oppenheimer is a Christopher Nolan movie, and bashing anything by Nolan is “in” right now.

Some people are just dumb. I remember one episode of Forensic Files where a guy who murdered his girlfriend was told by the cops that they had his DNA on her clothes and he said “What’s DNA?”
