I believe, don't quote me on this, that if you make a save on a system that uses DLC and then move it to one without the DLC, the save become incompatible.

Here a tip you forgot: Buy a $20 premium civilization. Without it you will get curb stomped in PvP. Your opponents untis will be able to use MUCH better gear than you.
