Also, RE has actually been pretty cool with Black leads, with Sheva being a main character. Yes, they dropped the ball in some areas for RE5, and the character hasn’t come back, but I would like a Sheva-led RE game. It’s one step forward.

Also, I want to say that I want Sheva to come back the RE franchise. In RE9 she should be a main character.

Hmmm, I mean, one of your examples can be made into any person you want, one is evil, one is furry, one with a middle aged woman (super rare!) and we are seeing more and better examples of representation. I get it’s not happening fast enough, but my frustration is that this is now just coming across as in-fighting

What I don’t like about the term “gamer” is it immediately conjures up “playing games as a lifestyle.” That was once the case for me, and now it’s not. I play games. That’s fine.

My rule on piracy is if it’s impossible to get legally (Mother 3 being a perfect example) then go ahead on it. I’m recently astounded by the people using the now-cancelled closure of the PS3 store as justification to pirate. Jeeze, you can get Suikoden 2 for $10. Slow your roll.

I don’t see a problem with being a snob, but it’s when you’re an asshole who forces your snobbery on what is largely a pastime for people. Jerks who bitch and moan about HUDs or “the right way to play a game” or gatekeeping difficulty settings or whatever. God they suck.

Uh...okay. Would you be squirrling out  if it was bil ol’ boobies?

I used my 3DS to hold some 3D gay porn pictures. The penises stuck out!

It’s too early for me. Because this is an Ashcraft post I thought this was a Japanese only thing, then I saw all the English and got confused.

Right? I just think this is a weird way for the writer to describe the games. They are largely chipper anime JRPGs. Not much angst.

Are Tales of Games known for their angst? I’ve only played Symphonia, a quarter of the way through Vesperia, a quarter of the way through Berseria, and outside of Velvet, “angst” isn’t necessarily the theme I would see in these games? Do characters go through angst? Yes, but it’s not a key part of their character like

Oh totally, but it’s nice to see this long slow burn finally be manifested as those two companies getting called out. I used to work for a F2P MMO company, and we could NEVER win over gaming media or gamers - everything we did was pure evil and unless we released the games with NO monetization, we would never win.

Lol this is hilarious

Remember a time when Blizz could do no wrong and got away with so much shit no other company could get away with because hardcore gamers had a big old boner for everything Blizz and now they have shit the bed and Blizz gets to be treated like any other company?

Lol good luck getting a PSTV. Those things are stupid expensive rn

This isn’t a story, every day you received tens to hundreds of press releases on new games and announcements, and then your editorial team writes more articles on stuff like Fortnite and then inane pieces like John “discovering” Maneater, a solid B-tier game that is one among many games Kotaku regularly ignores.

Are you sure you didn’t just get numerous press releases, a preview opportunity, follow-up pitches from their PR rep, an offer for a free copy of the game, and then just blew that all off for more coverage of Fortnite?

Ugh, I hate how Kotaku skips covering a ton of original games, then the writers piss and moan about lack of originality or they then go and complain and talk about piracy.

As a fat gay man, I often daydream about if a genie were to grant me a wish, one would be that all mean fat-shamers, through the nuances experienced by all fat people through financial, metabolic, and other fat-causing reasons, to become fat and have to dig themselves out of it like me and other fat people.

If you’d like, I’ve archived all of Kotaku’s content, and anyone here can read it without looking at these ads all over the place.
