Exactly. These articles practically make it seem like foreigners need to walk on egg shells when they visit Japan. And there are so many of these articles. Where the hell are the articles for visiting anywhere else?

That is totally the case, and it was immensely frustrating. I worked for a Japanese company, so I accepted what I signed up for, and look, Japan does Japan. Great.

My favorite was when my Japanese coworkers would arrive to the States and behave like the biggest assholes they could be. Calling people fat, whining the entire time, skipping work to go shopping, “saving face” by saying one thing and doing another. It was exhausting.

Everything about this makes me uncomfortable. It’s all so weird and disingenuous.
