All great points. I more or less follow them as well for my projects. But they don’t address the simple-but-mundane projects like staining your fence, or changing your car’s oil. Some sort of time vs cost, enjoyment vs chore balance should be considered as well. The easy stuff you’ve done several times might be better…

We went to Iceland a couple years ago and drove the ring road over a week. Ended up renting a Happy Campers Ford Transit (manual), which would fit your plan quite nicely. I will warn that half our nights were stormy/windy/loud, and cold until we sprung for a wool blanket. But I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
