I would have rather seen a decent PHEV...

If the Expedition and 4-Runner were related, yes.

Those things aren’t cheap! I was hoping they may follow a similar luxury sedan trajectory but they seem to be holding their value well. They’ve only been out a year so time will tell

My son’s Volt has an EV range of less than 50 miles. For a long time we kept hearing that people wouldn’t consider an EV with a range of less than 100 miles but then Nissan whipped out the Leaf with only 83, that worked. And Nick reports that most weeks his Volt’s engine never comes on - work, home, recharge. Repeat.

Musk made the Supercharging stuff free to license awhile back, I think (citation needed). Any other automaker can use it, but no one wants to be the one to say, “Tesla did it first, and better than we can.”

Tesla offered other manufacturers the opportunity to license the charging system for free for their cars if they would partner on building the Supercharger network. None did.

Everyone was excited about Tesla because it was supposed to be a good start with a downward price trend. Battery technology and manufacturing scale were supposed to make the Model 3 a car for the masses. Instead, all other manufacturers are trying go more upscale and wondering why no one is biting. you have to redo your house’s electrical system to install a single 240v plug? how do you dry your clothes?

Neutral: The minute I can switch I’m gonna. There’s nothing I enjoy less than pulling into a reeking stretch of concrete to handle toxic, flammable liquids in order to pay a large corporation to help destroy the environment.

But this is also terribly suited for commercial clients. Think how hard it will be to attach ladder racks and tool boxes, and it’s impossible to swap the bed for a custom setup like a cherry picker or flatbed.

Industry numbers show that plug-ins get driven 60% of the miles driven on just electric.   It's pretty easy to get used to doing as and people are financially motivated to recoup the premium you are paying over the hybrid.

Ha! Same.  I used to run one of the largest industrial valve repair businesses in the western states.

And the Mitsubishi PHEV SUV that constantly flies under the radar.

Now that I’ve had a few days to digest this Mustang-E, I have come to the conclusion that this naming scheme was genius!

Volt and Model 3 Agree owner here. Agree with all of this.

First off, I’ve owned 5 GM Voltec vehicles. FIVE!!!

Holy shit, an honest-to-god GM fanboy. In 2019, even. You do you, my man.

My speculation:

I feel like the Leaf would have been a better comparison than the Versa.

So the $60,000 income for a single person is about exactly me. My 5 year loan payment is $320 for a roughly $19,000 2015 car. Interest rate is 3.75%.
