part of the problem for me at least is that I basically only encounter GM’s lineup in stripper rental cars.

Even when I get in a more reasonably specced car it always reminds me of the cheap renal or “bad GM” cars of the past. Short of nuking their whole parts bin I don’t see a solution to that.

If I’m going to shell

I remember seeing these as a kid and thinking “wow, rich dude’ Now imagine how much blow you’d need to do for this to seem like a good idea.

Also we really need to get one of these for Mr. Regular to review.

Reliant Scimitar!

Lexus GX is strangly enough better value for money here and you’re still basicaly driving a Land cruiser Prado

God i love these things but Ford seems determined to let them die on the vine. Outside of styling the explorer is a superior car.

I wish they’d add a hybrid to give a cargo hauler alternative to the C-Max and Fusion hybrid but I’m not holding my breath there.

Or at least a scimitar

hear me out... honda goldwing.

also a classic:

If you look at the data it’s amazing how much better behaved the average person is now than 30 years ago.

WHY WAS THE A110 NOT ENGINEERED TO MEET US SAFETY REGS?!! *flips desk*

I’ve been considering these even though I live in SoCal since I do about 1-2 weeks of skiing and would prefer to not die.

you just need to get used to driving while looking out the side windows.

I’ve seen good results on snow traction tests but I’d actually be really interested in the dry performance (noise, efficiency, wear etc.)

You should consider All weather tires like the Nokian WRG3 for your next set. Basically a more snow focused all season that’s nearly as good as a traditional snow tire. They’re not particularly pricey either.

I don’t have to deal with snow but I’d say if you’re going RWD + snow tires a limited slip diff helps a lot

this was the big problem with the honda S2000. It’s perfect for the 3rd owner but the actual people who buy what would be a 40k car today want something a bit less hardcore with more features.

I mean, those V8s are actually relatively fuel efficient if you keep your foot out of it but good god, to get the civic down to anywhere near even the best case for that burban she’d need a co-driver with pace notes.

I heard takata made the knee airbags.

“And even with the 350 V8, it was even more fuel-efficient than my then-wife’s Honda Civic.”

HOW?
