Stupid thing is, it’s just a fancy switch. They should add a backup in the app. You can already unlock the doors from there. at least if you can release the door you can pull it open.

Or just hold the top button on the fob for 5 seconds. It’d suck but at least it’d get you through a couple days until they can get a

Jason hosting is probably the worst thing about his show. Lots of good guests but the guy is just cringeworthy to listen to sometimes for basically the same reason why this poll is bad.

Don jsit compare it to a cayenne turbo S. An extra $50k for the lambo badge doesn’t seem outlandish

Meh, Tesla will hit their cap on the subsidies middle of this year anyway, maybe some model 3 reservations drop but not all.

True the Mini E was definitely a development project (hence the fender numbers). But if they were going to build a dedicated EV, building the i3 with mini styling would’ve made a heck of a lot more sense. Possibly they could’ve even built a flexible platform like the current eGolf and built only one mini, which sounds

Man, BMW’s EV strategy really was garbage.

They were making these things 8 years ago! People loved them but then they HAD to go make the i3 weirdmobile and kill these off.

Don’t get me wrong, the i3 has some amazing engineering in it, but every time i suggest it to someone the syling is the #1 thing they mention, and

Lets say they start delivering 5000 cars / month, that’d be 750bn in revenue pretty quickly.

Possibly the other side of the equation gets a bit better as the M3 line is completed and the gigafactory comes online.

Then again, maybe Elon’s taking a page from Bezos and just plowing it all back into the business. Why pay

I guess it depends on whether you think their current burn rate will continue. Model 3 is burning piles of money right now with almost negligible deliveries. That could (need to) turn around really fast in a few months. It’s not like there’s fundamentally something impossible in this car (like the doors on the model

If an electric train can go from 0-300+mph without a gearbox probably possible for a car to do it.

Someone pointed out that power companies stand to benefit so much from the electrification of transport they should be offering hugely discounted weekly rentals on Chevy Bolts and Leafs just to get people to try it.

It’s the first big new residential consumer since aircon.

Range anxiety isn’t really a function of

a lot of office building will put these in. 4 hour charge in a morning or afternoon gets you 80miles or so.

It’s a tradeoff. It takes me 30 minutes to get a “full tank” if i go to a DC fast charger, but that costs me nothing (or maybe $10 if I had to pay for it) while my brother is waiting in a huge line at CostCo to save $0.25/gallon .

Now most of the time though I never have to go to a gas station. Just plug in at home and

It’s not even that much infrastructure. Literally a 220v wall socket in the garage, They could probably equip every spot in the garage in a weekend.

Yeah most public charging is 3 or 6kw which gives you about 20miles per hour of charging. If we could get up to the 22kw AC they have in Europe we’d be cooking though.

I think only the optional high power chargers on Teslas can accept that though in North America.

meh, most people only need a 110 or 220v outlet for overnight charges to cover your commute, It just takes a critical mass of tenants to request it.

California has a law on the books that they have to let you.

Reality though, I’d say lobby your workplace. They can get big tax incentives for installing chargers. The utility here basically gives them out for free.

Yeah a friend just got one for his 80 mile commute. Loves it.

Great car to be the 2nd owner of.

It’s similar to the Veyron, which empties it’s tank in about 15 mins at full chat.

That’s why i think the huge battery is much more about top speed than accelerative performance or range. This thing could make due with 60% of this pack and still be a stellar performer

Electric motor torque delivery is very different than internal combustion. Peak torque is at essentially 0 RPM.

The Regera already takes advantage of this and hits 248 with a single speed box. A 200kwh battery would probably be in the same power league here.

I drove a loaded up titanium one and I have to say the top spec interior is crazy nice. I’d never personally spend the $40k they were asking for it, but it was a pretty impressive commuter.
