Ummm. No. And it’s not why they’re being punished. Any service member doing a political statement inuniform is investigated. Full stop.

Yes. In uniform you do not have speech rights as you are a representative of the government and that would be an implied endorsement of a political statement by the government.

So fun story. That is not a BLM gesture. Perhaps it’s being used by BLM (it is) but it is also the black power salute of the Black Panthers, a group that most definitely uses it as a political statement.

This is making a political statement in uniform. It is NOT ok.

It’s a great photo. But these soldiers should absolutely be under investigation. You wear the uniform, you can’t do everything.

But, but..

Four minutes later, I wrote nearly this same thing...

Just stopped by to read about “Tie Fighter.” Note that I cannot, therefore writer is wrong :)

After nearly a decade of watching Pens v Caps games (God I feel old) at Verizon, yeah, the Pens have nearly always been the harder skating team. For the beginning of that decade, the Caps were never good on the boards, and that was a huge place where they had issues with the Pens.

My bad on missing the PP(Delta). I

They both were worthy of suspension. And as the DoPS video mentions, the head was not the primary target for Letang. Coming across the blue line will always invite a hit. One just hopes that it isn’t late and makes significant contact with the head.

Letang’s hit deserved a game. In the regular season, I’d bet Orpik gets 5.

Anytime a guy comes over the blue line and gets rid of the puck, hits aren’t about playing the puck. They are always about sending a message and closing off a piece of the ice. To think otherwise is just silliness.

And the difference between

You didn’t watch the DoPS video. Letang makes initial contact with the head, and then there is clear body contact - as they highlight in the video. They actually freeze frame it so that you can see the body contact.

The video also does a freeze frame to show that at the point of contact, Letang’s skates are on the ice.

I can’t star this enough.

DoPS slowed down the replays and kinda showed that this was not the case. His skates are on the ice at the moment of contact.

This actually makes sense when you have one team that is significantly faster than the other. At the March game at Verizon, the Caps had 2 bad calls go against them.

That all said, this is shitty data to draw a conclusion. Power Play time is not indicative of number of penalties. You have to break out 5 minute

I have to bring this out of the greys, because, holy hell.

Did you watch the DoPS video on Orpik? Did you also note that Orpik made no contact with Maatta, save for his head (with an extended elbow)?

The lateness of Orpik’s hit was egregious. Letang deserves a game. Orpik should feel solid with three.

I’ve been

Pssst, Timothy. Johansson is playing.

I see that you read the Washington Post

White’s hit on Orpik should have been called charging. WAY more than two strides were taken. It was a relatively benign hit, but I wouldn’t call that clean.

Libya is one that will be tough to ever parse well, especially while it is still ongoing.
