I'd say the double-handed 'gun and unlockable powers' combat scenario was one of BioShock's main features. Not to mention the proliferation of traps and the fact you're encouraged to plan your kills in advance JUST like in BioShock. Other than that, the audio diaries littered about and the environmental storytelling

Well let's be fair, in an FPS, combat is a large chunk of the game. Other than that, the audio diaries littered about and the environmental storytelling give it a BioShock atmosphere. Plus, the crazy people in the game and the tension-filled music (lots of screeching violins) seem similar. They're even made in the

Nah, I'm pretty sure that's just your opinion. Even if you don't think it's worthy of a 91 on Metacritic, it is far and above a '7'. Why? Because most games that are a '7' don't even register as worth playing to me (or most people I think), and I loved this game. It's from a technical standpoint (voice acting,

I found Deus Ex overly repetitive and often a chore to get through sprawling office levels. Dishonored is very similar with regards to its basic mechanics, but the combat, animation and graphics make the game about a million times more engaging. That'll be the BioShock influence people are talking about.

Too damn right.

A sad fact for all 'sequels' to old games. People complained about Fallout 3 being too different (the much overused 'oblivion with guns' comes to mind) and I still think that's one of the best games ever made.

While I have zero proof, and this is extremely anecdotal, I will say lyrics mean little in music. Despite the fact I like artists that are constantly praised for having great lyrics (Radiohead, Elbow, Grizzly Bear), I don't listen to lyrics whatsoever. Since my friend likes the same bands as me, and claims lyrics are

I'm going to chime in with the others, you can't adequately compare unless you know how it sounds in the native language. It sounds awful from our perspective I agree, but inaccurate translation + differences in how words SOUND in different languages + different cultures have different ways of saying or expressing

You think my priorities are a little messed up? Thank you for letting me know...

I was playing with my girlfriend watching, and she wanted me to leave her behind so badly! I agree that it was the lowest of things for her to do, but it was a reaction not a thought-out decision on her part, and you can't afford to pick and choose when you have so few people left. Plus, I really don't trust Kenny

Yeah, I understand you. What I played of Morrowind was a long time ago, but I just remember finding it confusing and uninviting, part of that was the environment since it doesn't feel friendly at all. If I remember rightly, it was the Dark Elves' homeland, which would explain the drabness and darkness.

I'm inclined to agree that Skyrim was diverse. I think OP is trying to say it looks less exotic and alien though. Morrowind felt like quite a mystical, weird land full of strange and unforgiving environments, whereas Skyrim just seems like Norway. Both are as diverse, but one feels more foreign.

Thanks ;). I think it was fairly constructive criticism in any case.

I am playing it instead of HL1, as I found HL1 difficult to get through. But yeah, I think play this instead, it's the original and more from what I gather.

I hope I don't sound like a dickwad, but here goes. This is a pretty huge thing for gaming, a remake of an absolutely classic game, and probably the longest, most painstakingly developed mod ever. So why did it take Kotaku absolutely hours to get to this story? Gizmodo reported it way before you, most of the

Yeah, I don't have high hopes for over here in the UK. The only paid TV streaming service available is Netflix. And all the great free streaming we have for our channels is native to the UK only (a tiny country by all means), so I'm not holding my breath for much support.

That barrier between you and the other screen...is another screen. How is that less immersive? If anything, you could claim it's more immersive.

Why is sitting close to a monitor any more personal than relaxing in front of a TV? I'm not really sure why you think 'intimacy' is dictated by how close you sit to your screen, because I personally think that's a load of horseshit. I love PC gaming on my TV, I sit in an office chair all week, why would I want to do

I don't think you can speak for most gamers. I love having the superior graphics and emulators that I can get with a computer in my living room, and I play them with a controller. You know what? I sit bolt upright at my desk all day at work, and when I get home I don't want to do the same thing. I don't understand

Absolutely. And in the event they don't come out for any reason you could emulate the GBA versions on Android? Bit more fiddly, but depends how much you wanna play Ace Attorney I guess XD.
