Well, yeah. Video games are just another facet of a world that is becoming increasingly exposed to everything. But we have to ask ourselves, that with all this media on our doorstep and all this horrid violence getting reported to us - why do we even play violent games? I don't think it's easy to argue any fault on…
Same, geek and nerd are terms that grate on me. In today's society it's basically just used to describe something someone thinks is a misplaced priority. Spend too much time collecting stamps? Geek. The thing you love to talk about most is board games? Nerd. (These are entirely random examples, o stamp-collectors and…
Yeah but the point was those PS2 ports (and usually Wii ones) are half-hearted efforts to mooch off the success of the titles on the core consoles. It's rare to see a motivated designer behind such a project actually trying to push for different and interesting stuff.
I know right! I have nothing to do :(.
Grrr, I'm a hardcore gamer and Just Dance is a terrible and awesome game at the same time. It's absolutely brilliant for family parties and always makes you laugh because people look like idiots, and sometimes it's fun to look like an idiot yourself. I mean, it's a pile of poo at actually picking up your movements,…
The main appeal of paid Spotify is that you can just lump a load of new tracks into a playlist, click 'make available offline' and hey presto you have all that new music available to you on the go on your laptop and on your iPod/iPhone (or another supported device). It's very, very easy to use, and adding local files…
Hrm, yeah I suppose it is. I tried to pose an imaginary situation in my head, where short people were being discriminated against (I'm pretty short). I have to admit it was kind of annoying. It's maybe just that I can't see that many females would be exactly inconsolable about not being able to attend an LAN party.…
These things always bother me. There is no balance to sexism or racism. Maybe it's because white men are impervious to prejudice or are too busy watching TV and drinking beer. Maybe being a white (prejudice impervious) male means I am totally biased and don't understand how any of these other sexes and races feel :P.…
Yeah, same. I couldn't fully justify illegally downloading 59p apps since they're so cheap, but at the same time there's so many competing apps it's impossible to spot which one is the best without trying them out. I originally downloaded like 10 camera apps when I first jailbroke so I could try them all out, then…
Here here, although Apple have given me less reason to need to jailbreak since iOS 5 includes 90% of the stuff I jailbreak for. That said, I would miss trying out apps, it saves a lot of money to download a bunch of apps for free and deciding which ones are worth paying for and which ones to delete.
Oh wow, I like. Getting NAO.
When me and my girlfriend started going out she would play Mario Kart Wii online with me. That was as far as her gaming went though. I knew there was an opening :P. So I showed her Portal and she played Portal 1 & 2. Now I have her addicted to TF2 :D, best thing ever haha. But yeah, even though it's taken a while to…
Hrm, if you click on an artist it shows the artists page, with all albums sorted chronologically and similar artists at the top of the page. Also clicking an album name will isolate that album. That's how you sort the results :).
Yeah, well it's the same as with retail copies, I did this a while ago and it's nice to know they're backed up if ever I can't get onto Steam. Just a shame older games like Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Mass Effect can't be keyed into the service yet. They seem to be saying they're working on it in the forums but who…
I always thought the only reason the Wii was so wildly successful was because it introduced a feature that people had only dreamed of before, and it was cheap. It had that wow factor that made people say, 'this is cool, I want one', but not only that it was cheap so people knew it could complement other systems or…
Interesting. I love choice too, customising my ending of Fallout: New Vegas was one of my most satisfying game experiences and if someone could combine Valve's brilliant game design with an open-world experience (I know this is unlikely to happen soon) that would be one hell of an experience.
I totally understand the skinner box idea, and frequently try to avoid games that employ it heavily and lack other elements, but I fail to see how 'training the player' is a bad thing? Perhaps you're not one to be taken for a ride and prefer lots of choice in your games, but personally despite knowing Valve engineer…
Well, since it gets updated, lots. For example, the addition of pistons enabled me to make a mechanical system that toggles whether water is falling down the side of my house into a moat :D. If you use your creativity a bit and take joy in making new things it's quite rewarding :).
I'll jump in here and say I agree with you. People need to mellow out and use the mouth and brain they were given. Of course we're prone to wanting to take revenge and do all this stuff but 9 times out of 10 it doesn't go the way we want and all we're trying to do is exert control rather than reach an agreement.
