Yes... until it’s their daughter.  Same as it’s always been.

This is THE slippery slope that starts us on a hard path to Christian fascism.”

Honestly, I think it would be better if the left forgot she existed entirely... she has no voice in her own party, only the ability to generate news by pretending to maaaaaaaybe, possibly, insinuate that she might support PART of something Democrats are pushing for.

Now I’m just confused as to why a bioethicist and adjunct professor of ethics is writing throw-away articles for lifehacker... lol.  Is it like a side-gig thing?

So you want her to submit to the demands of her detractors... even though you know full well that they are detractors by default, not by cause.

All of this. Christians wanted a theocracy more than they wanted a functional democracy, so we end up with a theocratic supreme court and a concerted effort to erode the rights and protections of women and minorities across the board.

I’d say you should consider a career in journalism, but judging by the quality of writing on this site, I fear you may be grossly overqualified.  Thanks for the valuable information!

If I’m not on their list yet, I’ll definitely be after they overturn Roe.

Thanks for the link!  I’ll give a read tonight :)

The fact that most of the Justices are just sitting quietly and have seemingly no questions about this completely meritless challenge to Roe makes it pretty clear where the court is going on this.

Very few people would tell their brother to own his behaviour or seek counselling, or they might tell them to get counselling while ALSO doing everything in their power to help their brother not lose their job or go to jail.”

I definitely agree that a performer is unlikely (unable) to perfectly replicate the formula due to the reality of physics and time, and that’s generally what people refer to as ‘soul’ in music. It’s the tiny imperfections or deviations from what’s ‘right’ that make it feel more alive... because life is imperfect and

Even Indian or Eastern music follows the same mathematical principles to build their musical scales and chords, they just start from a different position in the scale. The swara-graam is still comprised of 7+5 notes (12 notes, just like the chromatic scale. The frequencies, and relative difference between frequencies,

You and I have very different perspectives on things. lol

Compounding reasons:

I guess I see a very clear distinction between ‘music theory’, the mathematical structure of frequencies, and the subjective emotions and feelings that we generate in response to it (‘soul’). I agree that understanding theory or being technically proficient doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to play music that

More succinctly, you can use math to describe the frequencies music uses, but you can’t use math to describe the meaning music evokes.”

Slop ‘em up, boys!

Very interesting!  Bookmarking for later, thanks!

It’s 100% a mathematical language. The entire structure of music is based on math (frequencies). Math tells you what notes and chords can be played together. Math tells you your scale progression. Math is the heart of music, which is why I find it so beautiful.
