I think threats of violence are completely appropriate in this circumstance. There was no time for structural education and he couldn't have just said that what the molesters were doing was wrong, because the molesters don't give a crap. Being threatened is much more convincing.

To Joan Rivers' credit Kimye's baby is not cute. Maybe not ugly, but definitely not cute. And Joan Rivers is a comedian. That's what comedians do, make fun of controversial topics. A politically correct comedian is boring and not funny.

I respectfully disagree. In my view, a post entitled "dog attack" provides fair warning that the embedded video might contain violence, gore and blood. It would be different if the post/video were called "Awesome cat saves the day" or something. *shrug*

I don't think it's necessary. The title of the post includes the words "dog attack". Presumably someone who finds dog attacks to be triggering would be sufficiently warned not to watch the video.

I would say Topshop barely has an established presence in the US and this is the first time I even learned Topman existed.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. I can see it was unnecessary. From what you wrote, you know it can be abused, but you're still totally fine with it. That's awful.

YES! A fellow DListed reader emerges!! I was waiting until someone used her proper nickname.

Kinda looks like Bey may be scared of Solange. Who do you think would win a fight?? My money's on Basement Baby!

Maybe you'll get more bites today, LobstahThermidor. I'm crossing my fingers for you.

Don't buy lettuce; buy spinach. It stays fresher for a lot longer and has way more nutrients than your standard iceberg-type lettuce, which is relatively nutritionally useless. The taste may not be as immediately appealing, but it's something that's worth acquiring a taste for.

There isn't one. BMI is not a diagnostic tool. No doctor only looks at BMI and bases all patient care around that. People love to point to outliers like body builders and skinny fat people because it makes them feel better.

Yeah, sure, people who have been there and done that (learning healthy food habits, acquiring skills to lose weight) are simply concern trolls. Saying "hey, it's possible, and here's some ideas!" is totally just meant to fatshame you and make you feel bad enough to lash out. It couldn't be that choosing to make

It's almost like you're fixated on finding excuses to dismiss any healthy food suggestions out of hand.

Words are made up definitions, you got me there. But your insinuation of some kind of grand conspiracy lurking behind an exploding public health issue is really disturbing - like 9/11 truther-level of crazy. And there's no arguing with that.

BMI isn't a sack of shit, it's just not infalliable as an individual indicator. Just like you can't predict 'intelligence' (an equally hard to quantify thing as health) from high school grades, it is nonetheless a good rough guide. Ideally you have it with a bunch of other indicators (hip to waist ratio, BF% etc) but

And your sarcasm is a meaningful contribution to the conversation! :)

"It's almost as if there are factors that affect a person's weight that exist outside our control"

They exist out of some people's control, but not most. The fact that sweeteners have become ubiquitous does not mean that someones diet is out of their control. And while greater forces may be at play than we have been
