I went to a bougie sleepaway summer camp back in high school, and one of my housemates BLASTED “i’ll make a man out of you” while getting ready for a capture the flag game  against a rival house. i have never felt so pumped in my life about physical activity since that moment

I used to work with a man who didn’t pursue his dream job because someone told him circa 1990 or so that as a White Man he was going to be passed over because of all the diversity quotas in the field. So he went into IT. (His dream job is filled with white guys his age as of 2020)

So in his mind, governmental acts

When I was a teenager, I was raped by a very popular football player and I told no one. It took me 30 years to come to terms with it. Just once I would like to see teen survivors turn the destructive behavior away from themselves and onto the rapist. Just once I would like to see the boy’s house burned down, the boy’s

Yes, just like how anything a property brother does instantly becomes unsexy and boring.

They burned down her house?!

I’m questioning whether you know what ‘objectively’ means or not.

I loved the original so much. I get misty eyed every single time Mulan makes it to the top of the pole.

This take is so bad that the quality all of your other opinions are now in question.

This is so true. A friend of mine basically escaped a very religious upbringing in Texas and Not being American and having only lived in two major cities on the East Coast, it is kind of surreal that the reality she is describing is taking place in the same country. Her mother loves her children but struggles

Mulan is perfect, the music is perfect, and I’m plugging my ears in case anyone tries to claim otherwise.

This was just not necessary!!  Way to ruin two good men.

Mulan is hard to beat! The songs and overall message are among the strongest of all the big Disney “princess” movies. As the parent of mixed Asian kids, it’s a powerful first-hand reminder of why representation is so important. (Not to mention, Li Shang is super hot—not unlike the former Army Captain I married.)

Those white women are comfortable being anti-choice above all else because they know if they ever needed an abortion, they could get one.

Some things are basic because they’re just that good, and Jason Momoa is one of them. In addition to his size and his unique and stunning looks, he has a joy, energy and charisma to him that’s magnetic.

Anyway, I don’t know how we get beyond this. I’ve been trying to tell more liberal people, that the media, with the death of the Fairness Doctrine and rise of the Internet, we can essentially choose the reality in which we live.

How can they reconcile? They can’t and they get mad at you when you point out the hypocrisy if my mother is an example of it.

I think it’s been both scientifically and mathematically proven that anything Jason Momoa does is considered sexy.

A long-ass time ago, I stumbled upon a long series of accounts from planned parenthood staff (and unfortunately, I don’t have the link anymore), and a common anecdote was the daughter of picketers... or sometimes the picketers themselves coming in for an abortion, and then going right back to the picket line. I recall

The problem is that the opposition to abortion you’re talking about is bound up tight with a lot very deep emotions about sexuality and shame - especially for white women who belong to evangelical/traditional white Christian churches, where the theology is driven by terror of eternal damnation. And those churches have

As a white woman, I wish we had a better strategy for changing this than crossing our fingers and wishing it would stop being true. I try to talk to white Republican women when I get the chance (which, to be honest, isn’t that much in my daily life — most of the people I know are either liberal or don’t talk about it
