President Obama doesn’t have any power now. This is different than a politician giving speeches. He’s a former president, but can’t do anything to protect his legacy from being dismantled by a bunch of traitorous pro-Russians, industry lobbyists, and neoconfederates.

With the massive and quickly increasing income inequality that is happening right now, I would say yeah, they seem inclined to sit on it.

Can’t tell, are you making a trickle-down economics argument? Because sure, decreasing taxes for the wealthy might increase investment, but decreasing taxes for the middle and lower classes increases spending, and increasing spending is a far more effective and direct method for spurring the economy.

One of our whats? Obama isn’t in office anymore, and your strange definition of corruption is literally what this article is about.

I mean, have you read “The Origins of Totalitarianism?” There’s a lot of vague language being used by the folks who are upset about this speech, I don’t even know they realize what they’re

Yeah too bad all of that extra money will go to shareholder, investors and executives.

“... but let’s not lose perspective.”

Agreed. Next thing you know, you’ll forget that Obama is no longer in public office, that Trump is President, and that worrying about Obama’s speech fee should be, like, item 1078 on the list of things to face head on right now.

I mean, it’d be crazy if people lost so much

$400k ain’t nothing for him after he literally saved the fucking world economy, car industry, moved money around to ACA, Lilli Ledbetter, and so, so much more.

“Look at Obama making $400,000 for a speech! That’s not ... right!”

Yeah, I’m sorry, but even if Trump came up with some amazing plan that would help people out with “good and affordable child-care”, you know it’s not coming without some truly horrible and disgusting thing tacked onto it. I’m talking border wall tax, make things more gold tax, hand embiggening surgery tax, etc etc.

Childcare costs drive down female participation in the workforce. My wife is a skilled chef. Were she to work, we would literally be paying for her to work. And that’s only comparing her likely take-home salary to the cost of childcare.

“Could Tax Reform Under President Trump Actually Help Working Moms?”

Noah one hazzz uh seynse of huymuh anymoah.

Here for it. Justice defending Liberty is such a great visual. Someone create a comic.

I just read the decision and it is delicious. The Judge smacked down the Justice Department (and Trump) hard. And it shows that the DOJ can’t just get away with making arguments in court that are readily contradicted by the statements of the President. For instance, the DOJ had argued that the order was essentially

A liberal Obama appointee.... oh that should get Trumps little stubby twitter fingers flying

The shame is, that Jones will act like he’s being a big tough guy and not backing down on his show while his lawyer sends out a release that Jones apologizes for his remarks and that his “entertainment” show is not meant to be taken literally.

CEOs getting what they deserve is a slightly more populist option...

“As good fortune would have it, we had a bodyguard that summer,” she writes. They persuaded their bodyguard to buy lemonade, and then their driver, and then the maids, who “dug deep for their spare change.” The lesson, she says, is that the kids “made the best of a bad situation.”

For the best look at these theories, find Robert Anson Wilson’s Illuminatus series, which posits a world where ALL conspiracy theories are correct, including contradictory ones. Great fun. Once you read the jacket blurb, “is that really George Washington on the dollar bill?” You’ll be hooked.
