Satanic Church:
Satanic Church:
The Satanic Church and the Satanic Temple are two very distinct entities with wholly different philosophies, and are not interchangeable. This story is about the Satanic Temple.
They aren’t really “trolls”, are they? They are fighting against people using religious freedom laws to discriminate against people and create a theocracy. I think of a troll as someone who doesn’t actually have a point of view or care about an issue, but just tries to get people riled up for their own amusement.
I don’t like that they are “in curious company: nightmare right-wing troll trio Roger Stone, Milo Yiannopoulos and Chuck C. Johnson” per this article.
If he’s worried about sexual abuse by religions, he should be calling on people to burn down the Vatican.
This is a great example of why “The President has the power to do X” doesn’t mean the same thing as “The President can do X for whatever reason he feels like.” Fundamental to the modern administrative state is that the Executive’s power is not unlimited; a decision cannot be “arbitrary and capricious.”
I’m Generation X, and I agree with you that Millennial women are expected to be “extraordinary.” It’s basically another step beyond “having it all,” which is the unrealistic expectation for women of my generation. We’ve failed if we don’t have a career, spouse, kids, house, etc. I’m not sure why we keep adding extra…
Thank you for this!
Excellent article.
I just rewatched that scene and the doctor/nurse said that it was the EC pill that made Sara sick. Sara was confused and the nurse clarified: “Emergency Contraceptive...for terminating your pregnancy.” Then the doctor/nurse says that, despite throwing up, the pill will still be effective and tells Sara that “(she’s)…
It’s not a political commentary, I’ll give it that, but if the fictional EC ends a pregnancy, then it’s not emergency contraceptive, it’s an abortifacient. Additionally, the fictional pill that she was given couldn’t have ended her pregnancy because she wasn’t pregnant. She couldn’t have been. Fertilization and…
The school nurse said she was pregnant and then not based on the tests she did after the girl vomited.
THANK YOU! I went on like a half hour tirade to my husband during this episode. It made me angry that the writer didn’t even look past this. And for Jodi Foster to have directed it, I expect that she should know the difference. The school nurse was giving out awful information. I believe that 2 minutes is why I have a…
The literal abortion pill is not available without a prescription. It is different than the morning after pill, which blocks conception. The conflation of the two is dangerous and irresponsible writing.
This is fake news! (I’m serious). (Nothing against you, Whitney. Many sources ignore the following). Master’s in Environmental Studies here. First of all, we’ve known since ancient times that shade growing and agroforestry is about ten times better for cacao and the planet than monoculture growing. If the world would…
A thing that is worth mentioning perhaps: The references to food and essentially trading sex for meals is actually a rare glimpse (for Hollywood at least) into what a horrible time the 20's and 30's actually were. Not just in this country but across the world.
What they need to do is go after carmakers painting boring ass cars a boring ass beige and calling the paint Champagne.
😌 I was on the verge of ‘correcting’ you.
Progressive ideas only make sense if you want the overall economy to grow while income inequality shrinks thanks to an educated workforce.
‘I feel that it’s kind of in the male DNA, that if somebody walks in the room, your first thought is, “Do I want to fuck her?” Honestly speaking.’
