But then that’s not hyperbolic, it’s literal! If I say “He’s figuratively the sweetest person in the world” that a) doesn’t really make any sense and b) takes away emphasis. The point of literal in that context is how strong it is. By figuratively being a more appropriate and weaker word I think you’re actually losing…
