Yet I got Monster Hunter: World for about $40 a year ago on preorder (full price $60) from GMG, and Civilization VI: Gathering Storm for $30 also from GMG. That same site is also offering RAGE 2 for $48 ($12 off,) Octopath Traveler for $50 ($10 off,) Mortal Kombat 11 for $44 ($16 off.)

On the pre-order front, they have

I only signed up for Fortnite back in December and didn’t have to reclaim my account. So I guess I’m the odd one out.

Metro is still 25% off for me (plus $10 coupon) but that might be a regional pricing thing.

Not many prices are higher for me either. I’ll agree that Epic perhaps didn’t convey to publishers their $10 properly, thinking it wouldn’t be an issue since authorized key resellers do it regularly - I’ve pre-ordered AAA games

They made two, actually. They’re quite good, in the vein of, well, all telltale games - they’re visual novels more than anything.

You do relise there is a reason for that, and that is becuse of good devlopment of their plattform

Are you aware that this part of your comment:

Not to forget the shady anti-consuymmer exclusive deal that epic does to strong arm users in using the launcher.

They’ve openly stated the $10 discount on any games above $15 is being given by them (Epic,) not the publisher. They’re effectively covering that part of the price.

Epic is already selling their games in other large storefronts, also. Humble and GMG are both offering Borderlands 3, for example. I dunno about specifics

I’m of the mind that if they are going to offer discounts on pre-orders then they had better at least give a refund in store credit to every single person who has already pre-ordered the game.

And sure, it could be argued that Steam has too much power, but there’s nothing inherently forcing anyone to use them.

These “hot takes” Steam zealots have where everything that might go bad with EGS is because of evil are really getting tiresome.

These things have happened with Steam before, you know? Not in recent years because their sales have become laughable to the point where I get most of my stuff off Fanatical, Humble, or GMG,

All the ones mentioned there are actually regional pricing. Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe, for example, goes for $100 in US. Phoenix Point is like $40 I think? Metro Exodus same, above $40 sans discount (it’s $20 sans discount over here.)

Some companies (looking at you, UbiSoft) don’t seem to be using regional pricing

Uh there might not be regional prices for your region, but for mine there sure are. I’m being offered Metro Exodus for $5 with the discount, Metro: Last Light Redux for $2.99, and Walking Dead: Final Season for $4.49. I’m quite sure that’s not the standard price elsewhere. I can also pre-purchase The Sinking City for

Uh, probably because the one who stole a car might as well steal another, and because stealing is quite dangerous to everyone in general.

This woman did horrible things, indeed worse than stealing a car, but it’s not like she’ll be back at her lab tomorrow faking tests again. From the POV of law enforcement, she’s not

... and comments on gossip pieces aren’t solid diagnoses, so the problem is?

He’s stating that, judging by her public behavior, she could be suffering of schizophrenia or a related condition. Which is indeed a possibility. Judging by her public behavior, she’s not really mentally healthy. Sure, what we see of her

But you’re still confusing the availability of a single product with the availability of a whole type of product.

Epic isn’t the only store where you can get video games as a whole. Neither is Steam, or Origin, or Uplay. They might be the only store selling certain titles, but that’s perfectly fine. It’s not anti

A good bunch of those features either are already on Epic (regional prices - affecting some regions where Steam defaults to US prices too, sales) and others are confirmed as incoming (cloud saves, mod services).

As for the “vast backend for developers,” that description is so vague I don’t even know what you mean.

Then again Steam also has constant sales and I wonder if that’s involving Steam lowering its cut on a regular basis.

Any reseller that’s willing to pay the wholesale price should be allowed to sell a game. If 2K wants to sell Borderlands 3 for $44 wholesale, then steam, Epic, or Joe’s Game Shack should all have the right to sell it for whatever retail price they can get.
