I have to thank you for this post. You made me realize a moment of optimism that I wouldn’t have, otherwise!

It’s context though. He’s implying all Trump supporters are patriots and that anyone who’d be willing to storm the capitol building couldn’t be *actual* patriots, i.e. actual Trump supporters. Therefore his tweet was an implication that the people who stormed the capitol were “antifa” (ugh I hate that word).
They always stood-out to me in the genre of bad advertisement for just how over-the-top it all was. To a comical level.
Have you ever seen Irish Spring soap commercials? I’d never thought about it but I’d love to hear the reaction from people actually in Ireland.
This made me laugh. Also, love the Brak avatar!
People don’t like implied causation (typically even if its positive) when its a sacred cow of theirs. I am not surprised by people getting defensive.
This. Of all the potential cases to highlight where justice was not served, of course they’re going to champion an old white lady who was rightly convicted just because they feel she might have been there too long.
That’s a very optimistic read! hahaha I’ll go with it.
I did not attribute 100% of Diamond’s behavior to his castmates. Last time I checked, television was also a collaborative field that used a separate entities called writers. They can absolutely have an impact on the “on-screen” part that I mentioned in my post.
I agree with everything you’ve said in this thread and absolutely don’t think it’s drivel. I really WANT people speaking out as you are right now! So yeah, on that note, I don’t want you to stfu at all.
Just out of curiosity, do they also address the idea that the constant “othering” of the Screech character both on and off set likely went a pretty long way to why Dustin Diamond became problematic enough where they kept him off the reboot?
Immediately went to the comments looking for a Wayne’s World reference. Thanks!
But I never once implied in my initial post that there was a Monoculture depicted, as your post insinuates. In fact, *I* was the only one here who said that the film doesn’t depict a monoculture. Just because my initial post did not say “all” means that’s an inherent implication and posing it as such is a bad faith…
Have you seen the film? It does not depict a monoculture...
As a counter, I submit the Danish film “Day of Wrath”, made in 1943 (made under Nazi occupation, no less).
Both the Ryan Brothers’ complexion would be Estee Lauder compared to the JP Morgan-ish Steve Bannon.
Her racist trolling of the WNBA via-ownership could have also been mentioned here (I know, there’s a *lot* that had to be left out).
Agreed with this and all the replies. This show was actually a pretty good example of pack mentality and group-style bullying. When 2-3 contestants shaved their heads in solidarity after being called out for bullying Marcel.
You’re smart! There are others in this thread who have outed themselves as colossal idiots and think it’s normal/acceptable to parrot their parents political beliefs.
These people are called idiots.
