If you ever find yourself in this situation, (you shouldn’t, a car should never be worth risking your life unless the car is going to save your life) and you literally have no other options, please at least put the removed wheel under the brake rotor.
Yeah, that seems like an exceedingly stupid thing to do to your car. Sacrificing road safety and usability for track driving is moronic. Of course, I believe in the mantra of ‘don’t take it to the track unless you’re willing to leave it at the track’ so I wouldn’t track a car unless I had another one anyway.
Is this ‘bad advice wednesday’ or something?
A welded diff is a really good way to find yourself in a lot of trouble very fast on the street. I’ve seen peoples’ 4x4s on their roof because they left lockers engaged on the street. It’s unsafe and a really bad idea on public roads.
This is a bunch of blatantly unsafe horseshit. Shame on Jalopnik for even floating the idea to your readers that this should EVER be done.
Sure it wasnt a Lambo?
Toyota. Watered to the Hydrant.
That was some world class GIF use.
Does Tavarish know you wrote this?
2.8l v6 Fiero, nice. Never understood why people spend 10s of thousands of dollars on a kit car body, machining, customizing to make it all fit together and look nice, etc, then spend $0 on the engine... Especially in a Fiero, for like $5k you can drop in a small block chevy or a northstar, or a bit more and you can…
I’m pretty sure that’s actually a Lambo bro.
Yeah, this looks like my dream job.
costs 150 large.
i always voted that the car kills it’s occupants over the crosswalk people. that’s what they get for riding in an autonomous car.
HOORAY! NERD STUFF! Jalopnik needs more nerd stuff. Just FYI David, ACAC and LCAC aren’t explained, I have no idea what those acronyms mean, Air Cooled Air Charge? Liquid Cooled Air Charge?
I wouldn’t worry about seeing $5 gas anytime this decade. There are something like 3000+ new oil wells drilled in the US that aren’t currently pumping due to the low price. Soon as the price rises they’ll go online and counter whatever cuts OPEC attempts.
If oil prices start climbing up, all those unemployed workers in North Dakota and Texas will be back at work at the shale wells, and prices will tumble down again soon enough.
Too complicated, just pump in NOOOOOOSSSSSS until you crack a piston or blow your floor panel out.
But I’m glad it was totally cool for you guys to use it, promote it, and get as many clicks as possible from it.
