Originally it was thought that it was heat soak from the supercharger, but, it is, in fact, conservative tuning of the ECU to help the drivetrain survive for 100,000 miles as well as allow the Z06 to meet stringent US emissions regs
You can get a 911 with AWD, but you knew that. You're right it is 100% about brand perception AS WELL AS performance, refinement. No-one over 40 wants a GTR. Well, I have an VERY OLD, but also two 911s ;-)
