Eeesh. Is that how they run? I never gave it much thought, only ever been on the other side, working as a legal assistant for single attorney firms.

My girlfriend's ex, who technically has 50/50 parenting time, decided to move out of state "for 3 months" to help his father on a housing project, it's now been 2 years, he is paid cash under the table by his father so he has no wages to garnish for child support.
Their radio ads are probably the worst, using King George and Napoleon as their examples. Also, the ads play nonstop on a really good oldies radio station I like, and I always have to change the channel when it comes on because they are so stupid. I always think: "OMG is THIS their demographic? By liking this music…
No stats, just mission statements. It's just one of those things that is a global perception by people getting divorced, and so, unfortunately, no matter how many times the attorneys or judges tell people that the whole thing is about being fair, they will still think they were "screwed" because they end up having to…
I worked in family law for about 3 years as a legal assistant, and have worked with many attorneys before and since then that practice family law. That's basically the mission statement of family law: what is best for the children, and equal distribution of assets and debt based off of individual contribution of…
Men may have been at a disadvantage 15-25 years ago, but the structure of family court has changed since those days. More and more Judges are deciding parenting time and custody off of the decisions of child psychologists, who, by and large will advocate for joint custody (/) 50/50 parenting time. The courts…
Exactly, the only real annoying thing with them is because of their lateness and sloppiness, most of the legwork falls on us, all the drafting, distribution, hiring of psychologists... We usually get our attorneys fees awarded because of that, but unfortunately that just perpetuates to the male client that "his ex…
Yeah, it varies state to state unfortunately. =( Here in Oregon you can have Primary Caregiver status with 50/50 or less/more, and you can also have truly Joint Custody where you are both required on all decisions, and you alternate claiming the children on taxes year to year.
Exactly, and in divorce court, you get what you want. So many guys say they want to see their kids, but when it comes to scheduling they go all "Oh jeeze but I can't have them Friday and Saturday nights that's my poker night, and I can't take them during the week cause I don't have time to take them to or from…
Often. Well, as far as "beat" can go, divorce court is all about finding an equitable distribution that's best for the children, and that's our goal going into it, and most often achieved.
Nah, they are just lazy, late in filing, usually unprepared, they have a ton of junior attorneys and a ton of male "mra" style clients, who don't care about getting custody. Unless it was a big case with lots of assets and a smart client (in which case they probably wouldn't use Goldberg Jones), we wouldn't be going…
They are, already, and have been for quite some time. If parents actually want joint custody/equal parenting time, unless they are criminals, they get it.
Gawd, so much this. When I worked family law, only half my male clients even WANTED custody. The other half wanted equal parenting time and/or joint custody, and opposing counsel and the Judge are like "sure." the only job on that case is dividing up debt/assets, and who gets to claim the kids on their taxes…
Ugh, I hate men's divorce attorney ads. In Portland we have Goldberg Jones "Divorce for Men." Their commercials are absolutely THE WORST. Also, my firm went against them a bunch, they are terrible.
Half Life 3 confirmed.
Sorry, your friends may be socially liberal but they are still racist. It's not ok, good that they knock it off when you tell them too, but I hope they understand why.
He's pretty cannon, heck, he's Marvel's favorite Jesus allegory.
Xavier doesn't have telekinesis...
Eww
Unfortunately, "critics" like this (who may as well just be journalists with opinions) are the ones who paint the perception for the profession. Maybe critics who aren't formally trained should just be titled that? "Journalist with an opinion" instead of critic.
