I'd hardly call a war won with British money and military a great Canadian victory, especially considering how powerful Britain was relative to the still-infantile US and the fact that the war effectively ended in stalemate.

Not to be rude, but I don't think Canada is known for having any grroundbreaking militaristic, scientific, or cultural achievements. Also, who would be their leader? It's a cool place and all, but does it really needs or deserves a full-blown civ.

Sure, except Fox isn't seen using a blaster in any of his own games until 2005. We see Fox on foot three times before that, once in Star Fox Adventure - where he is prohibited from using his blaster at all - and the other two being Super Smash Bros. - where he wields his blaster, which is essentially a laser pistol.
