As of Firefox 10 all addons will be assumed compatible by default when updating, and the only ones getting disabled are the ones which have been listed as incompatible on AMO. So if no one found any bugs for an addon it will be enabled even if the developer didn't update the version number.

Same reason we got the Xbox 360 instead of the Xbox 2, scientific studies have proven that people tend to chose the option with the higher number.

Now they only need to add "unload tab" to the tab context menu, the "unload idle tabs after X amount of time" function, and a whitelist of sites that will always be loaded, and I can finally uninstall the no longer updated BarTab Beta.
