@putermcgee: Well since the phone he showed up didn't have any skins on it, just straight up vanilla Gingerbread, it means you shouldn't have to wait for Sony do make their own version.

Awesome. Especially how it is something we'll likely be able to actually test in the near future.

@Mark S.: I'm a sucker for world building so I really enjoyed Spellwright, but the last 1/3rd of the book felt a bit rushed. Almost like he was trying to cram a ton of exposition for the sequel into the book at the last minute.

@b33g33: As a counterpoint I found it to be an amazing read.

@CraigJW: I guess he isn't into talkative girls.

@Grayle: So let me get this right.. a bunch of brilliant scientists make a nice discovery, talk thru everything, and then 12 hours later someone comes in, calls them short-sighted and stupid. Dude, you're what makes online communities the miserable place they can be today with your childlike behavior, congratulations

@Grayle: It's pretty obvious that the scientist who discovered this were really the geniuses here.

@Grayle: The only reason they went to that lake and took samples of the bacteria there was because they already theorized that there could be arsenic based life there.

@sans_fi: Well taste is a bit similar in a way.

@CaptainJack: We are already growing fully formed human organs, there is no need to waste lots of resources growing useless part when its much easier to simply grow the needed organ all by itself.

@ried: Yup, lots of exiting stuff that could potentially work:

Seems Atomic Rocket needs to update it's page about alternative biochemistries:

@PHXPhoto: There is no such thing as radioactive nuclear waste.

@Quattro-luvr: Did you know that all coal naturally contain trace amounts of radioactive materials?

@CaptainJack: Well the "low-tech" version is to simply use a shotgun to blast it apart, which accomplishes pretty much the same thing.

@ltwass: Hah! That's not the half of it.

@ahooper: Some types of dogs cannot give birth naturally anymore because their heads are too big to pass through the birth canal.

@Ninety-9: Not if that explosion was a shaped charge sending a supersonic jet of water into the bomb.
