No. Honda tacitly started blaming McLaren before they parted ways, it was obvious then. What Honda did with STR last year, plus RBR this year, displays the Honda racing spirit of yore [Senna/McLaren days]. This time around, Honda didn’t fail McLaren, quite the opposite.

Agreed. The point was the optics of Merc’s GermanGP vs the hype they built going into it. A hype they justifiably deserve, it just played out comically. Difficult race to say the least. It came down to who can manage “disaster” best.

Yes. The point was from the perspective of how Merc approached this GermanGP and how it could not have played out much worse that it did. This is just a blip in their generally stellar performance. A performance level they have backed up season after season. My heart also sank for the pit crew.

Agreed regarding giving giving Merc a pass. But when one thinks of how Mercedes hyped this weekend, and justifiably so, it just turned into such a comedy. Going into the weekend, Toto warned about the jinx effect and now he’s not happy. An unhappy Toto is usually a good stimulus for the Silver Arrows.

The mechanics of an unexpected pit stop speaks for itself. Results vary.

Max, with a Honda strapped to his back, will be the future uber dominant driver/team combination. Fingers crossed the big H adapts well to new regs. From my vantage point, this is eerily similar to the Senna/Honda pairing of yore.
