I agree. Science supports that we all want to be loved, valued, and a part of a community. We are social creatures. Anti-social acts are self-defeating in that they raise the chances that one will be ostracized. IOW people who commit these acts ain't right in the head. I was drinking last night. This am, it occurred

There is definitely a systematic element to many types of hate.

Yea, on second thought , most can't plea insanity so..... I get it. I think it was the title that of the post that got me. The sensationalism. "SEE what happens!!!!"

I can support treating violence against women as a hate crime. I can definitely support that. I good way to definitively show our societies stance. I like that idea. On second thought, this many of these dude wouldn't qualify for an insanity plea because it's obvious they knew what they were doing was wrong.

if it went that way, it may give birth to a rise in structured "treatment" for the attitudes and beliefs that support/encourage misogyny. Like the treatment facilities for abusive men. I only know of one of those right now. Would that be so bad?

provide an outlet for the rage their actions have inspired?

thanks, don't know how people experience "moments of clarity" while intoxicated- all I get are " moments of confusion".

THIS!!!!

:) how about a mental institution?

I think women are convenient targets and get a lot of misplaced rage. Which isn't the same thing as acting out of a hatred, mistrust, or dislike of women.

are you qualified to give that analysis?

I disagree, I think they can exist separately and mental illness excuses a lot.

Perhaps. For the sake of discussion, let's limit "misogyny" to "hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women" (thanks dictionary.com!). With this definition in mind, I think misogyny and mental illness can exist separately. I think someone can be mentally healthy and a misogynist. I may be thinking too in the abstract on

Certainly! Regardless of the cause we must be wary of the consequence.

I'm glad this is being talked about, but I m not comfortable putting mental illness and misogyny in the same category.

I think religious folk are distrustful of non believers because they have this delusion that without belief in a higher power that to hold us accountable for our actions, we atheist might just go around discriminating against and oppressing people. We might just have a taste for rapping, pillaging, and murdering

So much win!!!!

I got a little turned on when I saw it ssssooooo.......
