“The Back Room”

Not sure if anyone will find this scary, but it certainly freaked me out at the tender age of 8...

The two cottages were built by my grandfather on the second to last lot at the end of the road. Out the back (front? we never could decide) of the cottages was a view of the lake which was the core of most

I told this story here years ago, but I was reminiscing with my son the other night and was reminded of what happened when we lived in our former house.

This is a good one.

The closest I’ve been able to figure out is to sort comments by Newest, then each time you check in, read until you hit one you read before. Not perfect, but saved me some time.

I love these stories. They are best experienced read at night while you are by yourself in a darkened house or apartment.

So I’m a dude, and a couple years back I went on a Tinder date with a woman who had just joined the app. She seemed normal at first, but after talking for an hour or two in person she started to give off that vibe that some isolated homeschooled kids have (not that it’s a bad thing), but basically like they haven’t

OK, there is something about having a mundane object, like a shopping cart, popping up in a place that is not logical, a remote country road, that really is creepy as hell.

I’m coming out of Jez retirement for this. It’s the mooooooooooost wonderful tiiiiiiiiiiiime of the year!

Posted this last year way too late and it got lost:

Has anyone figured out a solid method to read all the comments and keep track of where you are? Every year I get sucked into this and then spend days trying to filter and find my spot to read more.

This story took place in 2010, and I still get weird queasy feelings when I think about it.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! <3

For future reference, you can blow on bugs to make them go away, if they’re not aggressive (this wasp didn’t sound like it was). If you’re not making sudden movements, the moving air will discourage them, and you can blow harder if it doesn’t.  Might not work on a big MFer like a European hornet, but it tends to do

When I was fourteen, I had a super creepy dream. In the dream, I was walking down the upstairs hallway of my house heading towards my bedroom. It was dark. In my mind I just kept having this sense of dread and death. As I entered my room, I saw uncovered feet at the end of my bed, which I thought was odd because I

This is a horror story, but not one about ghosts or mysterious figures....but instead for everyone like me with a fear of bugs. Particularly a fear of bees, wasps, or yellowjackets.

I’ve worked in one place that’s supposedly got multiple ghosts and I have a story about one of them. This place was a restored Carnegie library that’s probably the 3rd building at that address. Its foundation sits on top of the 2 previous buildings which date back to the 1860s, before the original street level was

Oh thank god, I can stop checking every hour whether or not the contest has started! My brain just associates this with the comfy time of year now and I can’t relax until it begins!

I am ready. Scare me y’all.

Yay! I’ve been looking forward this for weeks!

OH MY GOD, my favorite time of the year!!!!!
