It is very hard to see poor guy. Did he loose consciousness immediately then? I noticed once they checked, and realized the extent of his injury, they did an airway, etc...

Me too. Some profoundly deaf, or hard-of-hearing people, have trouble with grammar or syntax since it has less meaning for them so their writing can be very distinctive and literal. Although it depends entirely on the person.
