There’s nothing illogical about my argument, but rather yours is because you’re forgetting what names are. Names are a social convention based on tradition. It just is what it is.

As I’ve said, people aren’t thinking about the tradition.

If you marry a woman, he LAST NAME IS HER FATHER’S LAST NAME, not hers. So, if I decided to marry Jenny, why would I take her dad’s name, when I’m the one with the last name?

I my opinion, which is just logical, it’s moronic to hyphenate names. That’s because if your kid gets the name John Smith-Johnson and they grow up and marry Jenny Stemplesky-Zbyshesky their kid will be Betty Smith-Johnson-Stemplesky-Zbyshesky, and if will only get worse from there.

As a woman “your last name” is really your DAD’s name, not yours or any other woman’s last name. No woman in our culture has ever had a last name unless she made it up and legally changed it.
