I've got a 2002 RSX-S, with the more docile final drive. While I'm tempted to swap transmissions when I do the clutch, I'm not sure if the improved acceleration is worth running the engine at a higher RPM on the freeway all the time. Furthermore, my car has 150,000 miles on it, and while the engine is still in tip-top…
My 2008 Honduh Civic Si is pretty much functioning as new as it crests 100,000 war-torn miles. I beat the living tar out of it on a daily basis and have since the day I drove it out of the dealer showroom (literally, it was the one they parked inside). Honda F20c. 9000 rpm, mean piston speeds equal to that of a modern F1 car.

Though technically not in production (yet) what Koenigsegg did with the old SAAB 2.3 in making a camless engine has to be up there. I'll leave it to CVK to discuss...
Zonda R engine. Highly motivational, orgasmic noise, beautifully incorporated into the car. Slightly old fashioned as in big displacement for big power, V12, can be had with a manual.
Honda K20A. I haven't come across another motor that produces >100hp/L and has no glaring flaws or reliability issues, no unusual maintenance costs, and takes abuse like nothing else and keeps going.
Honda's K-24 IT REVS OVER 9000!!! FOR A FOUR BANGER!!!
I'm not the only one who doesn't like it, right?
