It’s gotta be one of the late 90s CART cars. Just the power, 900 horsepower cars, they look wicked. There’s still a couple sitting around in the shop. Hornish got in one when IRL was going to road course, he got to drive a Toyota, they de-tuned it a bit, but it’s still crazy fast. Those things are seriously cool.

Street racing on deserted road is one thing, but with traffic involved, plainly stupid.

Great car. I have 30K miles on mine. US serial # 1. They painted it P 4/5 Red for me. No real problems. Needs snow tires in anything over 1 inch.

im from the LV, but moved away 13 years ago... did not know it closed down. That’s sad, use to go there all the time as a kid.

I just moved to the area and have heard stories about this. I am up off Susquehanna Street and would love to see the remnants. I am about to buy the book that talks about the history in the area and see about scouting some of the old tracks.

How easily could a well working jalop deal with the fence?

If enough of us like this comment, it comes true. It comes true, people.

I was going to say, save for watching this on Betamax or VHS as a kid once at my uncle’s, the version I’ve always seen was the Aussie-speak one.

It’s low, stiff, loud, and the rattles and 70mph drone mute almost all conversation. I could go on... but this car has been absolutely fantastic as a first (and only!) car and backroad navigator. 45,050 miles and counting.

I remember last year when Fernando Alonso started the race and a lot of people were awaiting the announcement that Ferrari was heading back to LeMans with an official and/or LMP1 entry. Not only are we still waiting, Alonso isn’t even with Ferrari any more.

Yep thats what I see too...if you notice, hes parked across the line dividing the parking spots from the next row...which also appear to be handicapped parking. Where is one of those asshat Jeep owners that like to park on top of things at the mall, when you need one?

Flashback five years ago...

I'll say it. It's boring looking. That front, especially, looks like it belongs on an unfinished clay model.

Now playing

Yes! Definitely one of the longest if not the longest straights used for racing.

Anyone else notice that when he got out of the car he just popped his helmet off without seeming to have to un-buckle a chin strap?

Never knew that! Thanks for sharing!
