I know that car, haven't driven in it but have driven beside it in my '66 Monte Carlo 850. It's a steal at that price!!

I've had the pleasure of sitting in that car, and hearing it run, in Trollhattan during a Saab gathering a few years back. It runs and drives just fine, if a bit nose-heavy (go figure). He chose the V6 because the drivetrain fits nicely under the hood; a B234 (or similar) I4 engine from a 900 or 9000 is too long.…

The Saab 96 was essentially the same from introduction in 1951 to final production in 1980. Just sayin'

The Saab 99 engine they show is really a 1.5/1.7 Triumph slant 4 originally in the Dolomite. It had reliability issues (no surprise there) so in '72 Saab released their own slant 4 design. What an awesome book, I love finding gems like this in the dusty corners of used book stores!
Great, now I'm fascinated to know the full story of the "Saab drivers" that were your greater nemesis - especially as I've driven nothing but since Reagan was president! :-)
