It only stuck me last week how... constructed her voice is.

I read an excerpt the other day about how Robert Mercer is in favor of using nukes and legitimately believes that radiation from Hiroshima and Nagasaki is why the Japanese are so healthy.

I’d really like to see John Oliver do an entire segment on them. They’re basically supervillains.

Omg, yes! Lee Camp did a thing on this. They also funded Brexit.

The Washington Post did that very thing today.

I wish the media would focus more on the Mercer family (the billionaire donors who convinced Trump to hire Conway and Bannon). They make the Koch brothers look positively benign.

Not really the point. The point is the CEO, while valuable, does not add value on remotely the kind of scale to justify their salaries.

A competent CEO’s salary is only partially justified by the value they add to the company. The rest is a kind of economic placebo effect. So millions of dollars that could go to

I’m of the mentality that companies should be free to compensate employees as they deem necessary.

And paying a worker $15/hr will make your Big Mac cost $20, except that’s not true either.

Yes, isn’t it crazy to think that we, in the most prosperous nation in the world, at the most prosperous moment of human history, might spread our prosperity around to all people instead of hoarding it in Panamanian banks? SO WEIRD.

There is a culture of collusion between boards of directors (often CEOs or former CEOs of other companies) and top management to make sure everyone gets lots of money COMPLETELY REGARDLESS of how the company performs. This is not wild-eyed imaginings, it is fact. Plenty of CEOs have driven companies into the ground

Are you under the impression that someone in this world was not aware that CEO stood for chielf executive officer?

I assume it’s something more along the lines of “CEO’s have an important role in an organization, but are not worth 200x the average employees salary”.

We don’t need an ideal world, just a better one than what we have now. I imagine part of that involves restricting the pay of smarmy, gladhanding assholes who provide, what? Leadership, I guess.

I assume they try to haggle on the price after the work is done, so no competent tailors are willing to work with them. It’s really the only explanation for people with so much money to always look so rumpled and weird.

I imagine because they notoriously stiff people and probably cannot get decent tailors to work with them. Also they do not truly value anything. When you appreciate the cost and craftsmanship of a garment you want to care for it and have it tailored to present yourself and the piece in the best way. All they see is

Why does this family have such an issue with tailors?

because they refuse to pay them?

I was such a Dean supporter.
