BTW I should have put up the "no fatties" with quotes because it looks like I'm saying that instead of just referring to the traditional thing some people used to put in personal ads.

It's not about oppressing but practicing what you preach. As I said, I don't begrudge her having her preferences as you somehow implied when you started with the "why aren't women allowed preferences". I just think it's BS when some of her defenders would be critics if the foot were on the other shoe. And I didn't…
That Adderall isn't gonna buy itself, you know. So obviously she needs someone rich.
My beef is the circumstances for some of her defenders would be the total opposite if it were reversed. If a guy says he wants only busty women and no fatties then he's sexist and misogynist but if she wants only guys taller than her and no baldies, then that's just her preferences. If it's guy with their rigid…
The guy is balding from the pic. How is that sticking to her requirements?
There is nothing wrong with knowing what you want, it's just that she comes across as a princess who was spoiled by their Dad, and now wants her spouse to fill the same role.
Precisely. And so many women, myself included, make the mistake of allowing themselves to float along in a relationship that isn't what they want in the hopes that it will somehow magically transform into what they want.
Eh. It's good to have a pretty clear idea of what you want, especially life goals/values wise, but having a super detailed list of requirements is silly. My fiancé is not the spitting image of the person I used to abstractly imagine marrying. Some things I thought would matter ended up not matterin. And he has other…
I never thought that the bad reaction to her article was based on the idea that being upfront about what she wanted in a relationship, it was that she described the idea that people might fall in love with someone who is different then who they might have imagined as their ideal as "settling". Especially when those…
The woman is my goddamn idol. I mean, I still don't want to be married, but in principle I love her.
Right. I tend to buy ahead precisely for this reason. I have a friend who wears about an 8 and I kind of hate shopping with her b/c she looks and everything and buys nothing with the "I have nowhere to wear it" line. I'm like, must be nice to know that if there is a party or wedding, or whatever, you can run into…
We have one - ONE - plus size shop in Ireland (that I know of) that sells nice plus sized clothing and is actually only for plus sized women; you can go to some shops and get some plus sizes (up to size 20 if you're lucky) but it's all cheap shit and the sizes are usually wrong. I can't wait to move back to the U.S.
I feel you. I made the resolution to go on dates this year (already been on two!), and trying to put an outfit together was painful. I've resorted to wearing so much black and I want to have fun and be colorful! I've been searching online the past few days and nothing stands out to me. Most likely I'll buy something…
That's a really great point—plus-size clothing has come a long way but there are big big gaps and one of them is definitely maternity clothing.
Will this branch into the Maternity section? Not that I currently need maternity, or plan to ever again, but I do clearly the recall the absolute frustration of being plus sized and pregnant, (with twins) and feeling like I had to luck into finding something to wear, (and that was at any store b/c apparantly almost…
You'd think they'd stop making so much clothing in those sizes...
My husbands favorite polo shirts were from Target. He went this year to get more and they've totally changed the fit to slim fit/European cut. He's PISSED. He's got a bit of a belly but hasn't gained weight since last year. Quality went down too.
I've always wondered why women were 'Plus Size' and men were 'Big and Tall'. And, where does a 'Short and Dumpy' man shop?
And the clearance racks are always JAMMED with the smaller sizes.
I've been told this happens because the store (stupidly) insists on buying the same number of each size, but more people wear a L or bigger so those sizes sell out and only the smalls are left. This is extra true if you're looking at a sale rack.
