The Loki in Thor was very pretty (I mean, come on, Hiddleston), but the way Branagh directed him, his character was stilted and muted - particularly in light of how much more freedom Hiddleston had to play him in The Avengers. Loki didn’t become a real standout until Whedon got his hands on the character, because

Dammit, why did you link that video? Now I’m... um... cutting onions.

Mate, that Black Panther suit wouldn’t “voom” if you put four million volts through it.

I dunno - I think for me Branagh’s “mojo,” and in particular the endless Dutch angle shots, actually distracted from Hemsworth’s staggering personal chemistry. And I don’t like how Branagh directed Tom Hiddleston as Loki - if it weren’t for The Avengers and Joss Whedon seeing the character’s potential, nobody would

I always thought that Iron Man 3 ending worked best if you looked at it through the lens of the theory that Extremis served as the basis for Tony Stark’s nanotech suit. Figuring out why Extremis was unstable, figuring out how to get it out of Pepper, then buckling down and removing the arc reactor from his chest, and

He’s so perfect for that role that it’s a given that it will never happen.

I learned two things from this article.

This actually looks... good.

There are tons of liberals out there wayyyyyyy more smug than John Oliver. Like, catastrophically smug. Oliver’s smugness is written into his persona along with a lot of other farcical elements. But one thing his show is not is “navel-gazing.” It’s well-researched and pulls no punches, and it’s an equal-opportunity

Which is what John Oliver does. So you do like him!

If there’s one thing we must protect, it’s the nobility and honor of our Sleazeball Grifter Class.

That’s the only thing that will keep this show in my Hulu watchlist, honestly - knowing how bloody awful P&R S1 is, and how revelatory it became after that, makes me a bit more patient these days with pop culture.

I think, having watched the pilot, that the only way anyone can be really invested in this show is if they’re a Natalie Morales fanboy/girl. It was exceptionally dire.

Damn you, you mad genius.

Chad Zumock, is that you?

Why couldn’t she have told Michael to “stop in the name of love” when he was seducing young boys at Neverland?

Honorable mention to anything from Slap Shot and Goon.

It’s hard for me to pick anything else besides Kevin Kline as Otto in A Fish Called Wanda doing what is perhaps the most hilarious profanity ad-lib in my memory:

This is Barbra Streisand we’re talking about. She may suffer from stage fright when performing, but there’s nothing she loves more than her HAWT TAEKS.

It’s clear that Starbuck leaped forward in time to shoot Tony Soprano.
