A lot of companies put actual gameplay there, not a backpack purposefully to small to contain all of the loot from a dungeon.

Fallout 3 was the last inventory management game I truly liked. You could happy meal an endless supply of guns burdening you into gun repair. Just a quick press of a button and your main could absorb that stack of 200+ 9mm pistols.
