As far as adaptations go compared to the book it is a very poor adaptation. Lost a ton of significance and emotion when they made it over as a Hollywood action movie.

Vokabulantis is absolutely gorgeous, and the fact that they did actual real world prop making to get the digital assets instead of just 3D modeling blows me away.

I am convinced that a good part of why nobody does this anymore has to do with the simple fact that even in MMORPG games the grind level has gone up while the complexity has actually gone down.
