Sasuke actually started out of another batshit crazy competition show on TBS called Kinniku Banzuke (shown on the old G4 cable channel as Unbeatable Banzuke). Granted, there’s a lot of insane shit going on with each of the first three stages in Sasuke, but it pales in comparison to the stuff they expected contestants…
With a silly realty show tacked onto it. Sasuke/Ninja Warrior is so much better than American Ninja Warrior. Regardless of American or Japanese version, though, it’s not remotely like American Gladiators.
