The open world wasn’t great, I never criticized the romance, but the story itself was extremely poorly communicated, FF13 was also a commercial success and that was a dumpster fire on all accounts besides graphics.

FF15 open world wasn’t great and the combat was pretty bad, PSP CC was the most decent FF related game (non remake) post PS2 and Midgard wasn’t that big in that one and the combat wasn’t very good either (forgivable in a spin off with a good story, not so much in FF13/FF15).

A remake shouldn’t change genre. It’s like remaking SMB as a 3D platformer or SF2 as a Teken style 3D fighter, at that point, it’s just a different game, a remake should grab what made the original good/great and make them better (or at least not break them) and fix what didn’t work.

Just because there is already a movie for a certain holiday doesn’t mean you can avoid watching all the others.

The song is plot relevant and will make you cry the last time it is played in the movie (don’t actually remember if the massive tears came during the song or a few minutes afterwards).
