Yes, this looks like a 3Ds or PS2 game running in low-res mode (like Ico which is 240p).

This is way past PS1, not even DS could pull something that looked as good as this, this is 3DS at worst. Even if you made the sprites 2D(thinking that the PS1 could pull these 3D character models is insane) and left the environments 3D to get close to your comparison, just the backgrounds alone look way more detailed…

Frankly a game not having inns or characters being moved in battle aren’t really negatives, I mean Chrono Trigger is the best RPG of all time and it doesn’t let you freely move your characters during battle.

Comparing the sales of the first and second place consoles against the previous generation second and third isn’t exactly fair, that still leaves a wii shaped whole in sales. Compare to the numbers from last gen this generation isn’t doing too hot, even the 3ds doesn’t compare favorably with the DS.
