It also has several months less worth of sales, so that accounts for some of it. It sold roughly twice as much as the PS4 or 3DS. They probably where conservative in their estimates considering the low sales of home consoles, plus nintendo is terrible at estimating demand/loves artificial scarcity (taker your pick).
