I suppose a quick test would be to plug something into the USB port that can charge from it, like a smartphone. I know your computer won’t recognize it or will block it, but if it still charges then I think that means this would still kill your computer.

I, too, read it quickly because it is a page turner...but it isn’t good, it’s alright. I also listened to the Wil Wheaton read audiobook. His delivery is cringeworthy in several places.
