What is up with the usage of “factoid”? I see it used as to mean “Piece fo fact” frequently, and not just in this article, although I would expect writers to use it properly.

A factoid is a piece of information that is taken to be true but is in fact false.

I’m thinking a combination of tipping the slices while at its hottest, as another commenter suggested, and as it cools blotting off the rest.
