Plus that whole bit about how toy guns need to be treated like real guns? Do I not see crazy white people running around waving their guns yelling about second amendment rights? Do I not see police officers failing to use their guns properly? What the fuck kind of statement is this!?

I can't write a response better than this woman's so I'll just share hers.

It makes sense that an institution with a history of telling women how to not get themselves raped would now start telling black kids how to not get themselves shot.

What's more likely? That:

so she's asking to see the receipts?

But why didn't she just report it?

*sighs*

For example, ANTM.

I totally believe her. It just drives me fucking crazy when people are trying to be like "she's an attention seeker" like attention seekers can't get raped or like they know what her off-screen personality is like. Seriously, guys let's not.

I think the problem is thinking that there's some sort of "cause" rather than individuals speaking about their personal experiences. She doesn't really have that much to gain - for all that people are saying she's an attention seeker, etc., there are plenty of ways to get attention that will actually make her money.

No.

The real problem, Bradley writes is that "Emotion has outswept reason. Jackie, for example, alleges that one out of three women who go to UVA has been raped. This is silly."

I don't believe that Chicago exists. I have never been there; no one I know has ever been there (except for my friend Jackie who changed planes at O'Hare, but she said it was real snowy so it could have been a different airport covered in white paint); "Chicago" is a funny word and "City of Broad Shoulders" rings real

If I had a libertarian magazine, I'd be trying hard to avoid confirming the stereotype of libertarians as being strictly out of touch white men who mistake their own chin-stroking blatherings for insight.

"something about this story doesn't feel right."

Wait Wait Don't Tell me and This American Life (which spawned Serial and of which the first Serial podcast was an original episode that I listened to in my car live) are National Public Radio programs that have been around since the 90s. These aren't new, hip phenomena. Frankly I'm thrilled that podcasts of these

I'd buy that, so long as the "Best Buy call" didn't actually come from Best Buy. They've pretty well established that there was no payphone.

Fun fact: most people are able to listen to more than one type of podcast.

Funny if you think that this isn't 100% more mainstream and less hipster than the comedy podcast world.

Even better when you haven't even heard it to know what you're tsk-tsking. Or read the article above. Thumbs up, well done!

Yeah, it's weird because at this point, I wouldn't be shocked if Adnan was guilty (although I don't think we'll ever know what actually happened with the murder either way), but the guy shouldn't have gone to jail with the case they had against him. That's pretty upsetting to hear. The reaction to the show is pretty
