Totally bums me out too. My ex has used the library for our 12/13 year old after school and I hate it.

I'm all for free range but I hate that my kid is stuck at school all day and then has to hang out at another public space for a few hours all because his dad moved too far away from the school for him to walk home.

I watch parents at the middle school drop off line sit in the line, blocking traffic, watching their precious angels until they're in the building. Because GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT COULD HAPPEN in that 200 feet between the car and the school doors.

Not kidding, a friend sent her 6 year old down the street to return a toy to another of our neighbors houses. 5 houses away on a very cookie cutter street (houses are not far apart). Her husband was watching from the yard but also doing yard work.
